Stairs
Capture the Beauty
Do you have carpet on you staircase or is your staircase looking a little (or a lot) worn out and tired? Add new life to your old worn out staircase by having the stair treads refinished.
Our Procedure
When refinishing staircases
we sand down the stair tread
(the part you walk on) and recoat it.
We can stain it a color to match your floors or the rest of the stair case. If your whole staircase is wood and the risers (the part your toe hits when walking up stairs) or the stringers (part that is against the wall) are damaged then they will have to be painted out. White is the most common way to go but I have seen on the internet some home owners choose to go black or paint each risers a different color like a rainbow up the stairs. I have also seen pictures of the risers being painted gradient where they start with a dark color at the bottom
and as they go up they lighten
the color by a shade or two.
Closed in staircase
A closed in staircase is when the spindles go into the riser like the picture with the black spindles or when the stair case has walls on both sides.
What type of stairs do you have ?
Staircase with spindles
This is when the spindles go directly into the stair treads. There is usually two or three spindles per stair tread. The spindles can be on both sides or just one side.
Floating
staircase
This is when the staircase has no risers. They are also called an open faced staircase.
When requesting a quote
it's good to know what kind of
staircase you have because the
different staircases require different amounts of labor. All staircases a very time consuming due to the amount of hand work that is needed. With a closed in staircase each stair tread has two corners that need to be hand scraped. With a spindle staircase the two corners and around each spindle needs to be hand scraped. With a floating staircase front, back and the side of the tread needs to be sanded and depending on the layout and if they are brand new or
not, and sometimes the
underneath needs to be done.
Extra Long steps
Some steps are oddly shaped or extra long. They can go up to an area or down into a sunken living room.
